The Chamber Choir is pleased to announce the winners of its recent solo quartet competition. The quartet from Western Michigan University was selected to be soloists in the performance of Mozart's "Coronation" Mass, K. 317, on the choir's January 29 concert in Muskegon's historic St. Mary's Church.
The quartet is made up of sophomore Chelsea Helm, soprano, from West Bloomfield, Michigan; senior Mary Haskins, mezzo-soprano, from Mount Prospect, Illinois; junior Patrick Muehleise, tenor, from Schoolcraft, Michigan; and sophomore Brian Schneider, baritone, from Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Ms. Helm and Ms. Haskins are from the studio of Alice Pierce and Mr. Muehleise and Mr. Schneider are students of Dr. Kenneth Prewitt.
"We were impressed with the well-prepared, sensitive singing that these young people did and absolutely charmed by their presence and demeanor," said one member of the audition committee. "We made the right choice. Our money will be well spent on these singers."
The Chamber Choir is looking forward to working with these outstanding young musicians and invites the public to join in the concert on January 29, 2011, at 7:30 P.M. in St. Mary's.
